A postcard or post card
is a rectangular piece of thick paper or thin cardboard intended for writing and mailing
without an envelope. Cards with messages had been sporadically
created and posted by individuals since the creation of postal services. The
first postcard to be printed as a souvenir in the United States was created in 1893 to advertise
the World's
Columbian Exposition
in Chicago. The first known printed picture postcard, with an image on one side,
was created in France in 1870 at Camp Conlie by Léon Besnardeau*.
Activity
MY
PAST EXPERIENCES
Each student has to design a postcard, to do so, they must imagine that
they traveled to a place they want. And
from this experience, they have to write a short text which describes how they
lived that journey, answering questions such as:
* What do you think about the trip?
* What did you do there?
* What did you eat there?
* Where did you go?
* Who did you travel with?
* Had you ever been there before?
* Had you ever traveled by plane, train, balloon, boat etc. ..?
* What had they done/eaten/ seen
before? or what they had not done/eaten/seen before?
They must also draw a picture using
images related to the place where they supposedly have traveled.
